Mentorship program connects people!

Since 2017, SPORTEGRATION has been connecting people with refugee or migration backgrounds with committed members of Swiss society. At the heart of our mentorship program is personal exchange on equal footing. What started as private mentorships has now also expanded into companies, where employees take on the role of mentors and support their mentees in everyday life.

A mentorship consists of regular meetings, shared experiences and mutual learning. Some mentors provide support with administrative questions, job searches or navigating everyday life in Switzerland. Often, however, it is the simple moments that become especially meaningful: having a coffee together, visiting a Christmas market, going for walks or attending cultural events. The relationship itself always remains at the centre. Through these encounters, trust, friendships and new perspectives are created for both sides.

The program shows that integration is not only achieved through formal support structures, but above all through genuine relationships and shared time. Especially for people with refugee backgrounds, social connections and local networks are an important step towards sustainable integration in Switzerland. At the same time, many mentors describe the exchange as deeply enriching for themselves as well.

Participation in the mentorship program goes far beyond the individual mentor mentee relationship. Companies make a direct and sustainable contribution to the integration of people with refugee backgrounds and visibly take on social responsibility. At the same time, the program also creates significant value within the company itself. Employees experience their voluntary engagement as meaningful and impactful. This strengthens motivation, identification with the company and team cohesion while promoting openness, tolerance and responsible action.

In addition, the mentorship program supports companies in important areas of sustainable corporate development such as social sustainability, diversity and inclusion, as well as community engagement. In this way, the program combines social impact with strategic corporate responsibility and creates lasting connections between people.
