A special running experience for three of our long-term participants

“Every step becomes more beautiful when we walk it together.”

With these words, one participant perfectly describes what SPORTEGRATION stands for: Sport connects people, creates encounters and opens up new opportunities.

This year, three long-term participants of SPORTEGRATION had the opportunity to take part in the challenging Gornergrat Half Marathon. Together, they faced the challenge, completed the impressive mountain course and experienced a moment that went far beyond the sporting achievement.

For many years, they have been training regularly with SPORTEGRATION, motivating each other and showing week after week what can be achieved through perseverance, engagement and mutual support. The journey towards the half marathon was not only preparation for a race, but also a symbol of personal growth and community.

Thanks to a special partnership, this experience became possible. A race entry represents much more than participation in a competition. It stands for confidence in one’s own abilities, the courage to take on new challenges and the opportunity to overcome personal limits.

Creating these moments is an important part of our work. Through sports programmes, we create spaces where people with refugee backgrounds and local communities come together, friendships develop and integration is experienced. Sport for people with refugee backgrounds is not only about physical activity, but also about connection, belonging and new opportunities.

Experiences like this would not be possible without committed partners. Companies and organisations can contribute by supporting opportunities for more participants to experience meaningful sporting moments. Together, we create opportunities, strengthen self-confidence and promote sustainable integration through sport.
