Sport ist gesund und verbindet. Doch als geflüchtete Person, Teil eines Sportvereins zu werden, gestaltet sich oft schwierig. Ein Zürcher Verein spricht deshalb explizit auch Geflüchtete und Expats an.
La Châtaigneraie alumni running for a good cause
This summer, Léo de Riedmatten (La Châtaigneraie, 2015) and Robbie Newton (La Châtaigneraie, 2015) are going to be running 26 kilometres a day for 26 consecutive days, in each of the 26 Cantons of Switzerland, and in doing so, they are hoping to raise 26,000 CHFs for Sportegration.

SPORTEGRATION WINTERTHUR IS GETTING READY FOR THE WINTI-SOLA
Our running group in Winterthur is hard at work preparing for the SOLA relay in Winterthur on the 24th September. Hannes Boos of the Landbote visited the training and asked three of our participants - Nemat, Yemane and Aqel - what motivates them to train with SPORTEGRATION. We wish all participants further good training sessions before the race starts on the 24th September!

With the refugee crisis unfolding, Annina Largo from Zürch decided to end her career as a lawyer. Instead she founded the association SPORTEGRATION through which she and her team of around 100 volunteers give sports lessons to refugees.

Yalda Rezai came to Switzerland as a refugee. In Zürich she was finally able to learn what she always wanted to do: swimming. Now she teaches refugees herself.

Kickboxing for refugees. SPORTEGRATION made it possible. In his martial arts gyms Azem Maksutaj offers weekly trainings for refugees free of charge. The WN visited the kickboxing world champion in February.
SWISS WOMAN OF ACTION, «I JUST COULDN'T LOOK THE OTHER WAY»
Annina Largo was heading towards a promising future as a lawyer. Instead she quit her job and now works as a fitboxing coach for the association SPORTEGRATION. It offers a free sports programme for asylum seekers, refugees and sans-papiers.
BETTER INTEGRATED THANKS TO SPORTEGRATION
Since March rejected asylum seekers train in the Weihermatt indoor facilities. It only takes about five minutes for Jama Mohamad El Hadi's face to be drenched in sweat. He's not really a footballer, the native Algerian tells us. «But sport gives me positive thoughts and joy in life.»

Meanwhile, SPORTEGRATION counts on around 50 coaches and helpers in Zürich alone and has already supported hundreds of participants. Fitboxing, endurance and strength training make up a programme that is accessible for asylum seekers and refugees free of charge.

«It's loud in the underground gym, very loud. Lady Gaga is pounding from the speakers and every couple of minutes the electronic round gong hammers: time for the next exercise, jump ropes, situps, pushups. Even before the boxing gloves come to use the t-shirts are already drenched in sweat.»

SHORT PROFILE SPORTEGRATION
SPORTEGRATION has won the national Sanitas Challenge prize 2019 and thus prevailed against 200 other projects. SPORTEGRATION won the funding contribution of 20'000 francs for its commitment to youth and grassroots sport.

WE GIVE REFUGEES SOME FORM OF NORMALITY
Your contribution to supporting refugees is a free fitboxing training. How does this help refugees in their day-to-day life? Piera Cerny: «In many ways. Of course the participants feel fitter and more balanced since sport is generally good for everyone. In addition we can feel their joy when they make progress and can see how this has a positive impact on their self-esteem.»
SPORTEGRATION - BOXING FOR REFUGEES
The refugees come from all over Zürich and some even from outside the canton to the Silo Löwenbräu to, as one migrant told us, escape their day-to-day life.

Two young lawyers from Zürich teach asylum seekers fitboxing. And are able to simultaneously clear their own head.
