Reaching New Heights – The SPORTEGRATION Community conquers the Swiss Mountains
For nearly four months now, our Bern hiking group has been setting out once a month to discover the mountains together and experience Switzerland from new perspectives. Since then, the group has already completed three hikes.
During the first hike, participants climbed the Bantiger, where they were rewarded after a strenuous ascent with a breathtaking panoramic view of the city of Bern and the surrounding countryside. The next hike took our community to Oberwil in the Simmental, where they encountered traditional villages and idyllic forests. Most recently, they ventured up the Stockhorn and enjoyed the magnificent view of the Bernese Oberland. The English Conversation Café group in Zurich also organized its own hike this summer, exploring the area around Lake Klöntal.
Each hike has been marked by challenging ascents, new impressions of Switzerland’s diverse nature, and lively exchanges within the group. It’s not just about hiking itself, but above all about sharing the experience of the Swiss landscape together. Such self-organized activities are valuable examples of how integration into Swiss culture and the motivation to create these opportunities can happen independently of our official programs.
The next hike is already being planned – we’re excited to see where it will take us this time.
