Balling with SPE

On Sunday, 12 October 2025, SPORTEGRATION took part in the Surprise street football tournament for the first time. We met up with our participants from the cantons of Basel and Bern in the morning to enjoy a croissant together in the large hall and chat. We then split into three smaller teams and warmed up with a few passes alongside the many other teams. Soon, the first matches began. After just a few games, our three groups had already become well-coordinated teams. By lunchtime, all teams had played each other once. After a hearty lunch, the rankings were determined in the afternoon through further exciting games. At the end, there were trophies to be won in various categories. But for us, the main prize was the camaraderie. It was a real highlight to see how many participants met for the first time and became a real team through the game.

The street football tournament, which has been organised by Surprise for many years, shows what football can achieve. It brings people together regardless of their background, language or social boundaries. This atmosphere was palpable both on and off the pitch. The players fought hard, the spectators cheered them on from the sidelines, and in between there was plenty of laughter.

We had a lot of fun on this day. Participating in the tournament was a powerful experience that will stay with us for a long time. Thank you to Surprise for this important event and for allowing us to be part of it! We are already looking forward to seeing you again next year!
