Three New Courses in Bern – Three Solutions to Our Biggest Challenges

11/7/2025

Many imagine it like this: start a new course, find a gym – done. But everyday reality in an NGO looks quite different. There’s a list of interested people, but no room yet. A volunteer cancels last minute. And ten individuals are still unsure if they even dare to join.

Still, we start. Again and again. Not because everything is perfectly planned, but because we find solutions – together.

That’s exactly what happened in Bern, where three new courses have recently launched. But these aren’t just new activities, they are real answers to structural challenges many organisations face every day.

1. Functional Fitness at the Tiefenau Collective Housing

The previous course no longer fit the needs, our participants told us. So we listened. Now the training happens right in front of their door – no registration, no barriers. A true step toward accessibility.

2. Breakdance with Partner Support

No money for a room? Someone in the city center simply offered theirs. No big words, no formalities – just action. This kind of support makes a difference and makes courses like this one possible.

3. Climbing with Climbaid

The third course emerged because someone reached out to us. Visibility matters. When you’re seen, you’re invited. Thanks to the collaboration with Climbaid, our participants can now quite literally reach new heights.

These three courses reflect three key challenges – and how to overcome them:

  • Lack of space – solved through shared infrastructure.
  • Need for volunteers – addressed by being visible and approachable.
  • Access barriers – lowered by offering what people actually need.

What worked in Bern is not an exception, it’s a blueprint. A clear sign of what’s possible when you don’t think in isolation.

In the world of NGOs, there is no real competition, only a choice: Collaborate or duplicate.

We choose collaboration. Every single day.
